Memphis, TN – With competitions scheduled for Charlotte, NC, and Knoxville, TN, the popular Engine Builder Duel will make its annual Hot Rod Power Tour appearance this year.
The COMP Cams Engine Builder Duel, presented by Snap-On Tools, has become a popular and anticipated part of automotive events across the country. The competition will return in 2014, with the duel calendar kicking off during the seven-day road trip that makes up the Hot Rod Power Tour. The first duel will take place at zMAX Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, June 7th, while the second event is scheduled for Saturday, June 8th at Chilhowee Park in Knoxville, TN. Saturday’s competitions will take place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., with Sunday’s single duel slated for 2 p.m
The Engine Builder Duel pits a pair of two-person teams head-to-head to determine which one can assemble and crank a Small Block Chevy engine in the shortest amount of time. The engine must run for one minute before a team is declared the winner. Armed with nothing but their knowledge, contestants are provided with the appropriate parts and tools to complete the build, and they may not ask for help from anyone in the audience. Both members of the winning team will receive a $250 COMP Cams gift certificate, while runners up each get a $125 COMP voucher. All of the 2014 participants will be trying to eclipse the competition’s record time of 22:32 set in St. Paul, MN, in 2013.
In addition to its stops during Power Tour, this year the Engine Builder Duel will appear at the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals in Du Quoin, IL, from June 27-29, and the Car Craft Summer Nationals in St. Paul from July 18-20. For more information, visit www.enginebuilderduel.com.
