The Engine Builder Duel puts top gearheads to the test in a race between two-person teams to determine who can assemble and fire a Small Block Chevy in the shortest amount of time. Using nothing but their knowledge and the tools on hand, and without help from the audience, each team is responsible for assembling their engine and letting it run for at least 30 seconds.
In 2015 the COMP Cams Engine Builder Duel will make its season debut on Tuesday, June 9, at Memphis International Raceway as part of the Hot Rod Power Tour. Later in the month the program moves to the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in Illinois, where several Duels will be held during the Du Quoin Street Machine Nationals on June 26-28. In July the Engine Builder Duel heads north to Minnesota and the Land of 10,000 Lakes for the St. Paul Street Machine Nationals (July 17-19) at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The season’s last competitions will be held during the Fall Street Machine Nationals at Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield, Missouri, from September 26-27.
Both winning members of an Engine Builder Duel team receive a $250 COMP Cams product certificate, while the runners up each receive a $125 COMP voucher. Interested parties can email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to register.
