Kevin Feeney, vice president of engineering for CPG, was on hand for the Engines Battle at Custom Show Emirates in Abu Dhabi. UAE team Alyasy 7 Performance won the contest.

The two teams faced off over three days at CSE, which also included a custom car and bike show and drew more than 23,000 guests, including a member of the UAE royal family.

Day One of the contest involved each team removing an LS3 engine from a provided GMC Sierra and making modifications using optional performance parts; each team had the same parts from which to select. The next day, teams installed the modified engines and adjusted other underhood systems — intake, headers, etc. Alyasy was first to complete that phase.  Dyno testing followed on Day Three, with each team hooking their truck up to the machine 10 times.

Two UAE judges and one US judge eventually awarded Alyasy the victory, based on the highest average horsepower from all dyno testing rounds. The UAE team posted an average 417.4 HP, while the USA team’s average was 415.8 HP. The USA team had the highest one-time horsepower, at 429.2, though.

For its win, Alyasy received a trophy made from engine parts and took home both of the built engines.
