Default 4.7l Performance Cams - Please Support The Cause And Make A Post!

If they make them I doubt they will "RE-GRIND" them... they will make them. When we have the H/O cams re-ground we are forced to use Lash caps to make up for material removed from the base of the cams... If Comp Cams makes us Cams, we will not need to use lash caps... That would be SWEET! It would just be another benefit of a REAL aftermarket cam made for our application.

I would also like to thank Comp for even looking into cams for us as far as they have. However, as everyone else has stated, the H/O's are nice for what they are (I currently run them) but there is so much more potential for more. As the owner of both a Hemi and a 4.7L powered trucks, there is an untapped market in going after the 4.7L engine with some good true performance cams. I hope that Comp will take a serious look into our beloved 4.7, because I will say right now if there is a cam that would make me more torque than my current HO's, I would buy them today!

Thanks for your time and concern.I am interested in some custom cams,as I have already installed HO's 9 months ago.A torque converter, then a set of race ported heads are next(already have a 08 intake manifold,headers,74mm throttle body,HO cams,SCT custom tuning,etc..)this winter, and some custom Comp cams to finish it off.Again, thanks for your time.

06 dakota 4.7 here, thank you comp for looking into the 4.7. I currently have a set of ho cams in my truck and like them,, but,,,, I would like a little more tq, I too plan on a 4.7 build but is on hold due to lack of cams , I already have tuneing support ready for it. It would be awsome to have a nice set of cams with a little thump and better power and tq, and something that will pull great especially with the aftermarket manifold options. And yes to air rams point it would be nice to not need lash caps. Thanks again comp.

'04 Grand Cherokee owner checking in. I'd like to thank Comp Cams for responding to our concerns and listening to our needs. I don't think I can sum up what we need for the 4.7 any better than Air Ram - listen to him! - but I'd like to add my .02 here as well.

My knowledge of cam theory is fairly rudimentary compared to most of my fellow 4.7 enthusiasts (I have learned a lot from them, and there really are many!), and certainly pales in comparison to Comp Cams' experts, but I have a pretty clear indication of what I'm looking for. In my never ending quest for performance I've always felt I've been hamstrung by a lack of performance cams for my application to take my V8 to the next level and unlock what the motor is really capable of. The HO cams are a decent upgrade from our stock cams (seriously, I think even I could have ground a better cam than the POS actuating my 4.7's valvetrain right now), but really nothing special. The KRC regrinds that have been available never interested me, to be honest - my Grand Cherokee is one of the lightest vehicles the 4.7 powers and even I don't want to sacrifice any semblance of low end torque to move the power band up and make just a few extra horses up top. I can only imagine what it's like trying to daily drive a Ram or Durango with a peaky KRC grind in it! I had been in the market for a set of HO cams, but rather than tear apart my engine for a minor improvement, now I'll be saving my mod money and waiting for Comp Cams to make a product that fits my needs.

Ideally, I'd like Comp Cams to make a grind that will be good for a decent torque increase off idle to midrange ( somewhat similar to the HO grind with its faster ramps, but better!) but also allow my 4.7 to make gobs of HP up top too. The combination of SOHC heads, custom tuning and all the breathing modifications I have (2008 intake, cold air intake, ported throttle body, full exhaust) has me daydreaming at work about all HP my 4.7 would make properly tuned at 6500rpms!

Us 4.7 owners have the products to support aggressive grinds, but we can't make them ourselves. We need real cams - help us!

I would like to say this is all great news if Comp Cams come to offer 4.7L camshafts for the after market. In my ongoing pursuit of performance for my 2003 4x4 Dakota I must say that it has been troubling finding actual performance parts for our often forgotten about engines especially when it comes to boosted builds.

Not to use any names but with the exception of one company that comes to mind I have lost all my faith in any performance shops that claim to offer performance parts for our trucks. Many shops often pass off frankenstein parts to the public as original performance parts only for us later to discover there was nothing original or improved with the part. I've had multiple parts and cam grinds from known sources and nothing has ever really worked out, and it hasn't worked out because they were taking, in my opinion, broken parts and trying to make lemonade out of them. What resulted has been anything else but refreshing. Alas, Comp Cams arrives on the scene, and I think I speak for us all when I say that offering an actual original custom-grind cam to suit various applications is a long over-due and welcomed addition to polish off the performance parts line for our 4.7L engines. Its about time that a real company that knows how to make a camshaft finally debuts legitimate parts four our jeeps, suvs, and trucks. THANK YOU!

Hi,

My names Matt and I am another person waiting for someone to come out with some better cam options for us guys with a 4.7. I have a set of HO cams waiting to go into my truck but I would much rather put something better in there. It would play a big part in some of us 4.7 guys making some real power. It would be the next step and whenever one of us kicked some Ford or Chevy butt in a race we can say that Comp Cams helped make it possible with there cams, becasue we all know how important a good cam can be to making some power.

Well, I actually like this step back... either the response we received was not the correct one or it was just not worded correctly... I’m hoping it was not the correct one.
If you look at your "ticker" (before the mass delete) you had over 255 views in two days. There were only 4 views when I made my first post on this topic on Saturday. To me that an indication on real interest! Use your ticker to count the hits on this subject. It only counts each computer once.

I’m still very happy Comp Cams has taken the time to look into the 4.7L... I really hope you take a closer look at the demand.... Because it’s there. The people responding to these forums are a mear fraction of the people who modify their trucks... and this has proven to be a demanding bunch. There are thousands more out there and don’t even know we are having this discussion with you guys.

We would love to have someone who knows what’s going on to jump in and participate in this forum to keep us posted and or up to date... More like a POC so to speak… It just seems like everyone from Comp Cams has a different answer and speaks it as if it’s the final word. This just shows us how huge of a company you guys are, and how difficult it is to keep everyone informed and on the same page. But you need to ask yourself, how did you get where you are? How did you get to be the success you are today. Is it all about the multimillion dollar orders and no longer about the hot rodder turning wrenches in his driveway that started it all for you guys? I honestly hope my business never gets too big to serve our customers.

So at this moment I’m confused.
