Default 5.0 Cobra cam?
I was wanting to find a cam close to stock 5.0 Cobra specs. I will be running a class that I can only use OEM style equipment but I would like to use an aftermarket cam as I cannot find a stock Cobra cam and I know that Comp's would be superior. The specs are 210@.050 duration and .479 - .480 lift with 1.7 rockers. In addition, a 118 LSA and 115 intake lobe centerline. The only thing I've seen is the High Energy lobe 3160 with 210@.050 and .485 lift with 1.7 rockers. The only thing in question about it is that .485 lift may throw me out of that class. Also, I would like to use an Extreme Energy or XFI lobe but I think they are too aggressive to be within limits or am I missing something. I don't think that the LSA and intake centerline would be an issue and I would leave that up to who specified the grind for my application. Could you advise or point me in the right direction?

Well that lobe is about the only thing I would have for you in that duration and close to your lift area. If you went with a 1.6 rocker I have an extreme energy lobe that would be .488 lift you could use but thats it.

Thanks for looking. I thought I researched before I asked. I did want to use a hydraulic roller for those benefits but is there any added benefit in using an Extreme Energy hydraulic flat tappet versus the High Energy hydraulic roller? Or should I stick with the roller?

I would suggest sticking with the roller. Even though the Extreme Energy design is better the roller profile more than makes up for it when comparing the flat tappet to the roller designs.

Which spring should I use to go with that amount of lift? The .485. The 987 spring seems to be a common Hyd roller spring for most of the Ford lobes.

The 987-16 spring would work great for you if you want a dual spring. The only problem is that a stock head would have to be machined for a dual spring. If you would prefer to stay away from that then use our part number 926-16 springs with our 740-16 retainers and our 640-16 locks.

Well here's the real question, the 926 spring crosses over to which beehive spring?

It doesn't really cross directly over to a beehive spring. The closest one to it would be the 26986-16 spring.
