I am not sure this will help you out, but I run a autometer electric temp guage on my small block ford. I drilled and tapped the intake manifold just behind the thermostat housing to install the temp sensor. The autometer sensor uses a 1.8 npt thread so it is a small sensor.
That worked awesome for me
