I usually use 140 or 120 AMP alternators because it's not the EFI system that is the probem it's all the other stuff like fuel pump, electric fans, lights. They all put a large load on the electrical system. The best alternator I have found by far is the MSD alternator it has a very smooth voltage output and very steady voltage.. Second would be the east coast electric or FAST alternator. The stock GM truck 92 3500 w/AC had a small case 105 AMP. You cannot go too big with an alternator.

Bigger is not always better if your wiring is not suited to handle the extra output

I have a 105 on my '72 Chevy and I upgraded the feed wiring to compensate going from a 48amp original.
Just a thought.

True but even Fromm a 45amp to 95 you will need to upgrade the charge wire. A 45amp will not keep up with an EFI system alone before you start adding all the other stuff. Most newer factory OEM EFI stuff is at least 100amps.

thank you very much. The reason I ask it's because of my application, the highest rating is
95 amps. (It's a VW engine with factory aircooled system.)
