it's sequential and 50 degree reference. my initial timing is 31 at idle. i've tried it all the way down to 18 at idle but the car seems to want to idle smoothest at about 1200rpm (i don't run an IAC) and anywhere from 24-31 initial timing. i pulled the plugs today after taking it on a spin yesterday. i took it to 60% tps and 12 pounds of boost. 116 octane fuel and 3924 plugs. they looked ok but not as clean as i would have thought considering it is a much hotter plug than was suggested (NGK -8 or -10) at 24 pounds of intercooled boost.

Were you logging your actual A/F so you could overlay it on the Base VE table?
Is this turbocharged or supercharged?

it's a big bore 348 small block ford, trick flow "r" 235 cnc heads, a/a intercooled F1R, powerglide, 4.10 gear, 10.5" tire deal. yes i data logged the passes and overlayed the datalog upon the base fuel table. it generated the outline of where the motor operated at in the VE table. i then made adjustments in the areas the air/fuel numbers were rich at and never did it the air/fuel ratio go leaner than what i had specified in any of the corresponding cells.
so what i'm asking is that if even the 3924 hot plugs were dirty, then obviously the much colder ngk -8's definately wont work right?
my spark curve looks something like this...
39* @ 9" vaccuum with a 14.88:1 a/f target
38* @ 8" vaccuum with a 15:1 a/f target
30* @ 2,2" vaccuum with a 13.31:1 a/f target
25* @ 5,7lbs of boost with a 12.19:1 a/f target
24.5* @ 6lbs of boost with a 12.19:1 a/f target
23* @ 10.7lbs of boost with a 12:1 a/f target
21* @ 11.5lbs of boost with a 12.19 a/f target (which happens to be 183kpa)
***i thought 156kpa was 14 pounds of boost???***

your timing is way too low for C-16 fuel. I am running 22 degrees at 30psi. That should give you a better idea. Be conservative.... but you are way too conservative. You should be able to run 34 degrees in vac before it builds boost. That engine will not like to run 15:1 A/F anywhere. 156kps ia 8.122 psi. You should end up with NGK -9s for something that will go over 14psi. The -8s would be ok below that. Your fuel rich condition is a tuning issue. More timing for race fuel although the timing you have now is what I would run for pump gas. Are you running in closed loop? What is the O2 correction in the areas you posted?

closed loop yes. the 02 correction in those areas of the datalog ranged anywhere from -10% to 15%. my F1R is cogged to spin 68,000 at the 8500 rpm shift point. i've observed 23psi in lo gear. not sure how many psi it'll make in high gear. shouldn't i be able to run full timing (34-38) all the way up to about 6 psi with the 116 octane? i was making 18psi with the previous YSi blower and ran 24 degrees of timing non intercooled. shouldn't i be able to run more timing with the F1R since it is intercooled (air/air). i would go to an air/water but didn't think it would be as consistent since i do drive the car on the streets, parachute, full slicks, 2" primaries, 5500 rpm converter, window net and all. just makes for an expensive trip to the store. lol.

You should be able to run 34 degrees to that point without any problems, Like I said with C-16 at 30 psi you should be in the 20s-24 degrees.

The boost should be the same in all gears.
