Default BBC Cam Recommendation
I have the comp cams 11-613-5 cam in my BBC 505cui engine right now which made 614 hp and 620tq at 6250rpm
The engine is 505 cui 4.350 bore and 4.250 stoke 454 block,10.5-1 compression,oval port heads fully ported with 2.3" intake valves 1.88" exhaust valves Brodix single plane manifold, 1000cfm throttle body,Lg tube headers with muffkers and no cats, turbo 400 transmission with a 2500 stall convertor 3.70 rear gears with 33"x22"x15" tire, 3500lb car
and power brakes which is the problem i am having right now the engine only makes 7"-8"
of vacuum at 850 rpm and I would like to get it up around 12"-15" of vacuum for the power brakes.
I used your camquest6 and came up with 2 cams as best fit for the series street setting
First was 11-433-8 hyd roller 625hp and 629tq
Second was 11-443-8 hyd roller 634hp and 619tq
what would these 2 cams give me for vacuum
Could I use a solid roller on the street and still make good vacuum?
If so what solid roller cam do you recommend?
The car is only run on the street no track time

I'm actually suprised that you were getting that much vacuum with the 11-613-5, that is quite a large camshaft!! The 11-443-8 would better suit your application, but the vacuum would be cutting it close. Whereas, the 11-433-8 is just one step down and should give you the vacuum that you need. And you can run a solid roller on the street, but I wouldn't reccomend it personally due to the fact that you'll be adjusting valves often and you'll need to be careful with a solid roller idling for an extended period of time. So with a street application, a Hydraulic Roller will be much more practical to be honest.

Craig,
No problem at all! The billet cores are made out of a harder material which allows you to run more spring pressure, which to be honest, is not necessary with a Hydraulic Roller.

Does the 11-433-8 roller cam have the austempered treatment and if so does that mean that i would be able to use the gear that came on my MSD distributer?

All of our -8 cams are a austempered core and will require a steel/iron mealonized distributor gear. MSD calls theirs an Iron Mealonized gear. I do not know if that is what comes standard on your distributor from them but a quick call to their tech line would tell you.
