Inside Line, Edmunds.com's high-speed online car magazine, announced that the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS took first place in its latest comparison test of iconic muscle cars.
The Inside Line editorial team compared three similarly positioned performance coupes:
2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS (MSRP: $35,380, Edmunds.com True Market Value (TMV): $35,425) equipped with an eight-cylinder, 426-horsepower engine and six-speed manual transmission
2010 Ford Mustang GT (MSRP: $35,625, Edmunds.com True Market Value (TMV): $35,625) equipped with a eight-cylinder, 315-horsepower engine and five-speed manual transmission
2009 Dodge Challenger R/T (MSRP: $36,710, Edmunds.com True Market Value (TMV): $35,324), equipped with an eight-cylinder, 376-horsepower engine and six-speed manual transmission;
"Car enthusiasts can rejoice that all three of these legendary pony cars have made a comeback," says Jay Kavanagh, Edmunds’ Inside Line Engineering Editor. "But the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS leads the pack with its combination of power, speed and attitude.”
The second-place 2010 Ford Mustang GT offers impressive performance, but its styling lacks the “wow” factor according to testers. The third-place 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T has the most evocative styling, but trails in performance due to weight and poor tires.
