Default clearance issues between retainer top and rocker underside on pro actions
hi again,
taking my current geometry to be set up ok, ive run into another issue. now i have very minimal clearance between the spring cap and the underside of my rocker arm.

RHS pro actions 58cc 160 runner SBF
289 block (have no idea if its been skimmed)
comp magnum roller tip rockers
+.1 chev valves as specified
972-16 springs
XE262H cam

when on base circle i have .03 clearance on teh underside of teh rocker arm, im thinking its not enough.

the engine guru at real steel over here says hes never ran into this kind of problem on similar builds with such a mild cam. i ahve some suggestions to increase clearance (lash caps for example) but im wondering if this is quite normal?

one thing i was thinking is that during checking i only torqued the head to 30lb/ft if i took it to the specified torque (about 70 i think) would this compress the head gasket significantyly far to alter teh geometry and also give more clearance

i`m going to do this anyway and re-check.

the pushrod i ended up with was 6.65" and this had the rocker arms quite low down the rocker studs.

cheers,

Mark

We recommend .030" or more on the retainer to rocker clearance. If you don't fell comfortable with running the minimum, then yes, the lash caps would give you about .050-.080" more clearance.
