Default Clearence issues between retainer and seal
I am putting together a set of the topline pro action heads and I am using the comp teflon seals 529 and at max lift of .650 I dont have proper clearence between the guide and the retainer. Is this a common issue? I put in .100 longer valves like recommended. I have the correct installed height for the springs. Its not possible to have too much lift for this is it?
Thanks
Will

Will,
What actual installed height are you setting the springs up at? Are you using the teflon seals or the 529 (viton) seals? What is the actual amount of retainer to guide clearance that you are experiencing?

thanks,
John

on the lower left it says 223200020 and on the lower right it says 3607405031. They are straight plug 72cc 220's. i actually measured the comb chamber and it measure like 79-80 but thats a different matter

We have used that same casting with our .100 long valves and some people have put .700 lift cams with no issues. We use the 529 positive stop viton seal. What is the distance between the guide (without the seal) and the bottom of the retainer? Does the springs that you are using, setup at the 1.850 installed spring height.

thanks,
John

Without a seal I have .209 clearence. With this new seal I am trying I still only have about .045 clearence. I dont see how they could get 700 lift.

How far does the top of the valve guide stick up above the valve spring machined area (where the spring sits on the head)? It sounds like these guides were not installed low enough to have adequate clearance, but that is speculating at this point.

thanks
