Default Day 1 of the Mopar Muscle Challenge
Today kicked off the 5h Annual Mopar Muscle Engine Challenge, and the competition alreadys looks tough.

Things started early this morning at the COMP Cams R&D facility with the team of Scott Schurbon of Schurbon Engine Service in Maquoketa, Iowa, and Shaun Havey and Michael Pontnack of Mopar City. This is Schurbon's third consecutive year in the competition and the first participation for Mopar City. Being a regular COMP Cams customer, Schurbon teamed up with Chris Padgitt of COMP Cams to select just the right cam, lifters and valve springs for his build.

After team Schurbon/Mopar City's dyno pulls, lunch was served and the Promax Performance team of Indianapolis, IN, was on deck with members Ben Gorman and Scott Spies. They're no strangers to the competition because this is their fourth consecutive year to make the cut but they haven't had a win yet. Could this be the lucky year? Stay tuned to find out! Check back with us for Tuesday's team updates.

Default Day 2 of the Mopar Muscle Engine Challenge
Tuesay was another day of repeat contenders in Mopar Muscle Magazine's Mopar Engine Challenge. Up first was Dave Bruns of Mid-America Racing in Washington, IA, who is in his 4th competition. Bruns will prove to be a tough one to beat as he already has one win under his belt and another year had the highest hp and torque but didn't win. Remember, cost is a factor in this competition, as well as hp and torque numbers.

On Tuesday, we saw Randy Malik of RM Competition in Detroit take over the dyno for the second time in the history of the competition. Using a different strategy than his last build, Malik put up good numbers so the competition is still on! Tune in tomorrow for highlights of Day 3.

Default Day 3 of the Mopar Muscle Challenge
Day 3's competition included newcomer LaRoy Engines of Idaho, the father and son team of Jim and Cody LaRoy, who made a 38 hour drive to Memphis to compete in their first engine challenge ever. Using COMP Cams lifters and timing chain, this duo made the competition tight and showed us all that being the new one to the game doesn't mean they don't know how to win. They actually put up some of the highest horsepower numbers this week.

The afternoon made things even closer. Four-time Mopar Muscle Engine challenger Jeff Dickey and JD Engine & Machine ran in the afternoon session and really put the squeeze on the rest of the competitors with more high numbers. With only one more team to run on Thursday morning, things are looking good for a close finish between all of the contestants. Stay tuned for Day 4 highlights!

Default Day 4 of the Mopar Muscle Challenge
It's over. After four long days of putting engines on the dyno, tweaking them, running them, taking them back off and starting all over again, the 5th Annual Mopar Muscle Engine Challenge called it a wrap.

This morning, the final team, Chenoweth Speed and Machine from Morton, IL, added their engine to the mix. This father/son team is competing for the second time and while they had a few issues with their engine, they got their dyno pulls in and added their numbers to the board. Father Dale Chenoweth is a big proponent of COMP Cams Engine Break-In Oil and Additive and could be heard discussing its benefits with some of the other builders this morning.

With seven total competitors who look to be extremely close in the horsepower and torque ranges, the title of Mopar Muscle Engine Winner could be up for grabs by any of them. Watch for the final results online at www.moparmusclemagazine.com.
