Default Difference between rolller and non-roller heads
Hi. I'm looking for a set of heads for my Chevy 383 buildup. It's going to be a torque motor for towing. The block is a factory roller block and, as of now, I plan on running a stock 93-97 Z/28 LT1 roller cam with some 1.6 roller rockers, an Edelbrock Performer TBI intake and keep the TBI setup. I was looking at the Pro Action heads #12317-02. I see the 12317-01 are for non-roller engines and the 12317-02 is for factory roller engines. Just wondering what the difference is between the two. I looked at the specs and can see the "actual" differences, but what does it mean? Do you truly need to run the roller heads on the roller engine and why? Just wondering.

Thanks!

The real differance between the heads is just the spring setup that comes on them. The springs that come on the -02 series are COMP Cams 987-16 dual springs and have spring pressures more suited to Hyd. Roller cams. The -01 series has single springs with pressure more suited to a Hyd. Flat Tappet camshaft.
