Red face Dist Gear Select for old Crane Cam
I'm using a bronze gear against a Crane mech roller cam Part number 27R00003 one of
their custom grinds for Boss 302 Mustangs. I want to try a hardened steel gear now for more life. Will a 5.0 Mustang gear work? them came from the factory with a roller cam.
My question is : is this cam billet steel and will a hardened steel dist gear work?

I bought a your Non-metalic gear from summit and compared it with my spare
bronze gear which hasa flat bottom compared to your gear with a large chamfer
a raised land on the bottom. What is this for?

I want to use only the best gear on my rare boss block and improve gear life.

Thanks Ray

Ray I could not really tell you what type of material the Crane cam is. If it is a billet camshaft though the steel gear will not work for you and you will need to run a bronze or one of our pollymer gears. If it is an Austempered core then yes a factory 5.0 style gear would work just fine for you.

Sorry about the late response I simply overlooked the question.
