The race is back on; new season of racing starts this February
The highly successful Drag Race High television program will return to Speed Channel on February 20 at 10 p.m. and COMP Cams® will power one of the contestants. While we can’t reveal too much at this time, but the racing event will be based in southern California between rival high schools. El Camino High School students in Oceanside, CA under the direction of shop teacher Steven Jennings will create the feature racecar using COMP Cams® components.
When visiting the auto shop to deliver the COMP Cams® products, we took the opportunity to show the students the CamQuest 6™ software available for free download on line at
www.compcams.com. By plugging in the information concerning their vehicle’s specifications, the students were able to forecast the potential horsepower and torque they could expect. This simple software program is a great tool for “trying out” the right components required to achieve your desired power and torque goals as well as the total area “under the curve” performance for suspension, tire and driveline tuning.

The subject racing vehicle begins to take life at the El Camino High School auto shop in Oceanside, CA. Students
in the advanced auto shop class work with instructor Steve Jennings during 3rd period to assemble and design the
vehicle.

Students in the advanced shop class had a chance to try out the COMP Cams® CamQuest 6™ software. Students
were able to load in their information on their car and forecast the potential power to achieve their goal.

Instructor Steve Jennings adds COMP Performance Group™ stickers to his Drag Race High “door of fame.”

A full rollcage has been fabricated for the project – to increase stiffness and afford driver protection. Students learned
the basics of welding and metal fabrication first hand.
