Exclamation electronic interferance, how close is too close?
I am in the process of installing the FAST EZ EFI system into a 55 Nomad with a 350 and MSD Pro Billet distributor and MSD 6AL ignition box. I am shooting for the cleanest installation possible and would like to run my harness where it can be seen the least. Obviously the distributor is at the rear of the engine, my alternator is located just in front of the drivers valve cover and my ignition box will be mounted inside under the dash away from the ecm. My preferred route for the harness would be along the drivers side between the intake and valve cover, around the back of the drivers valve cover, under the brake booster and then through the firewall. Would I have any problems with this if I stay at least a few inches away from the plug wires?

Default How Close is too close
I took my 87 IROC-Z with a 355 custom s/c engine with the XFI to a powerhouse professional in New Jersey for dyno-tuning as we speak yesterday. I should have my car back around Friday afternoon. I talked to another guy about my setup which is very similar to yours. He doesn't see any problems on my current setup. I have took my time for the install and tried to keep the computer away from anything that might cause an interference. I also ensured the main + and - wires were attached directly to the battery which is now trunk mounted on my car. I have the MSD 6AL located where the battery used to be from the factory. I haven't noticed any strange readings from any of the computer as of yet. I figured I might was well have it professionally dyno-tuned as it is not a hook and run like the FAST EFI.. Hopefully this helps

Emi usually comes from things like the MSD box, black and orange coil wires from the MSD. Plug wires and coils. Usually touching the crank or cam wires.

Keep some distance if you can but most of the cars I do have a hole in the firewall between the side of the distributor and intake side of the valve cover. Not using zip ties the high noise wires to the ecu harness is the big deal.
