Default Engine Builder Review - RHS® Pro Torker™ Heads
Why search the junkyard for a 300 hp SBC iron cylinder head when RHS® has one that makes 100 more horsepower right out of the box?

Recently, I bought a set of RHS® Pro Torker™ cylinder heads for a performance Small Block Chevy 350 stock class engine where the use of iron heads was mandated. After bolting them on and intensively dyno-testing the engine, I was very impressed with the results of these cylinders heads. And after averaging 405 max hp at 5400 rpm and 435 lbs./ft. of peak torque at 3800 rpm, who wouldn’t be?

For years, stock class racers and car enthusiasts have faced the difficult task of searching through a junkyard or bidding at an auction for a pair of stock GM heads. Even when this is not the only option, it still seems to many a good strategy to save money.

However, there are many problems associated with these junkyard GM heads, some of which include their need for new valve guides, they could be cracked, leak water, need to be properly surfaced, need a valve job, or even need valve seats installed. Worst of all, they are RARELY machined for screw-in studs!

When you add all of this to the equation, are you really saving money?

I was very impressed with these new RHS® heads. After assembling them with premium COMP Cams® valve train components, I bolted the heads on for an easy, consistent 400+ horsepower, better than any stock-replacement iron head I’ve ever seen for an SBC engine.

Thanks RHS® for the HP!

Additional Product Info

The RHS® Pro Torker™ Vortec heads outflow all previously available SBC iron cylinder heads. Made from premium-quality cast iron using patented Clean Cast Technology™, these heads deliver the competitive edge in racing classes where iron heads are required. They come standard with radiused, hardened exhaust seats, multi-angled intake seats and “Fast Burn” combustion chambers. Also equipped with 1.550” valve spring seats and valve guides engineered to avoid retainer to guide clearance issues when used with high lift camshafts, these heads appear to have overcome all of the shortcomings normally associated with OEM Vortec heads.

* Note: Although this particular engine was assembled by a professional engine builder, Barker claims that this “cookie-cutter” type of engine project could be easily built in most American garages using over-the-shelf parts.
