Default EZ EFI® and Inglese™ Wow Customer
I first switched my 1956 Chevy Nomad from a carburetor to EFI in June 2003. It took at least 3 different tuners to get the motor drivable. Later, after updating the look to an 8 stack EFI, the car made great power and drove well… but as I made changes, the tune went out and that meant more tuning to get it back to tip top.

I recently decided to freshen up the engine with the new FAST™ EZ EFI®. I had also discovered the Inglese 8 stack EFI intake manifold with large, built-in common plenum. One of the drawbacks of the manifold I was using was that I couldn't run a PCV valve. With the Inglese manifold and its large common plenum, I can! Along with the intake swap, I installed the new FAST™ EZ EFI® Multiport system.

With the rebuild complete, it was time to hit the engine dyno. The Nomad fired off immediately and I set about dialing in the 8 stacks using the manometer to make sure they all flowed equally. By the time I was done, the motor was idling easily! Amazing since there is no IAC! We varied the RPMs and the loads and you could just see the A/F ratios coming in line. Within 25 or 30 minutes we had a motor that was running and sounding so good that everyone was simply stunned.

After a few times of adding load and RPMs to make sure the A/Fs were right where the ECM targets were (we left the defaults), we started to make some WOT pulls. What was amazing was that with each pull the motor made an overlapping linear line, adding 2 or 3 ft. lbs. of torque and 2 or 3 horsepower. You could see the EZ EFI® learning and dialing itself in. The final pull made 550 ft. lbs. of torque at 4600 RPM, and 525.4 horsepower at 5600. The best part was that all of this was done without a computer or any drama. In fact, once the stacks were equalized and the timing was set, the only thing we did was bump the fuel pressure up and play with the timing to find the best torque and horsepower.

From start to finish the motor ran well. I'm amazed at how easy it was to set up, to input the information and how quickly the motor was dialed in. Once the stacks were balanced out and the idle was dialed in, it just got better and better. And the motor has NEVER started as easily!

Everyone in the dyno shop was fascinated. They couldn't believe how quickly this system learned and how well the motor ran. I think there were some true non-believers that now might consider a switch to EZ EFI®!

Best,
Greg Weld
