Default Ez-EFI problem. (rpm input)
Is the RPM-module with the Ez-EFI kit able to trigger a tach? I believe it just is some kind of passive filter.

Having a drill running my Unilite distributor my tach shows 2500 rpm but "live data" just says 0 rpm. Then tried putting the RPM module between the coil and the tach and then my tach also shows nothing. Are my RPM module broken?

Hope for some help here because my spoken english is way to bad to use the phone techline. My Ez-EFI did run great for nearly an hour and then suddenly went dead.

Sounds like the tach module is dead.

What kind of distributor do you have?

Would it be possible for you to install some type of spark box like MSD or Accel?

I have a Mallory Unilite distibutor and Mallory Promaster Coil. But what killed the RPM module after it had been working good for nearly an hour?

Of cause I could buy something like an MSD box, but I find it little stupid if I have to buy an expensive ignition box, mount and wire it up, just to get a tach signal for the Ez-EFi. The engine is just a mild street 347" sbf. The same engine/ignition didn't show any problems with the very old Holley ProJection kit it run before I mounted this new Ez-EFI.

Just trying to help, man.

Realize that it is just an educated guess that the tach module is bad. It will need to be tested. I would suggest that you send me an email to mmaxwell@compcams.com or give us a call for an RMA #.

Regardless of this situation at hand, I guess I need help understanding why installing an ignition box is such a bad thing. It improves throttle response, improves idle quality, improves overall horsepower output, typically improves fuel economy, and makes your fuel injection system work even better. You can get all that for about $200.

Why would you NOT want an ignition box on your car?

Thanks a lot forh helping me! Remember that I'm from europe and really trying my best to write in a foreign languish.

Maybe I vill just buy a box or maybe I just want to buy a new RPM module/Tach adapter. Don't know, but I'm not sure if I vill trust a new module.

I think vill send you a mail later, Thanks

Just an update. I have been a little busy with a lot of other things, but today I have ordered a Mallory Hyfire box. Because of the shipping to europe, I think it vill take maybe 2 weeks before I know if it has fixed my problem.
