Default EZ EFI - strong fuel smell
I get a pretty strong smell of raw fuel after driving my 69 Camaro with the EZ EFI system on my SB 350, and it sticks around for a long time. The car has a Ricks FI tank with the in tank pump and braided stainless nitrile fuel lines. The smell is not coming from the tank.. I added a charcoal filter on the vent and there's no significant smell coming from the vent line. There seems to be some oder coming from the engine compartment, but again, I cannot find any obvious leaks. It may be coming from the throttle body... is this possible / common? If so, how do I eliminate it?

Thanks
Bob

Are you sure this couldn't just be exhaust hydrocarbons? The EZ EFI injectors are below the blades so you should be getting no fuel vapors there. check, injector O-rings, fuel lines, regulator ect..

If it is exhaust then try playing around with timing a little.

Brian;
It's not exhaust.. that smell goes away after a bit. The smell is raw fuel and, as long as I keep the grage closed, it never really goes away. There's no evidence of leaks at any fitting, at the tank or at the injectors. Hence the mystery.... can fuel vapor escape through the fuel lines under pressure? I used steel braided nitrile lined hose throughout the system....

Thanks
Bob

Wow... very informative. I guess I'll be looking to replace all the fuel lines with some better quality stuff.

Thanks Craig.

Bob,
I had the strong smell of fuel like you are talking about and had no leaks and could never find the problem until I found the same link I changed all of my fuel lines over to the PTFE
lines and had no more problems with smell and you know that these lines will last for the life of the car. I found a great site that has the PTFE lines and fittings at a great price and the quality was top notch
Check out there price list so you know what is in stock http://www.frozenboost.com/
