Default EZ-EFI temp sensor location
Folks,
On a small block Ford, I currently am using my water temp sensor for my quages in the manifold bung, would it be OK to but the water temp sensor for the EFI into the thernostat housing bung? That bung is on the radiator side of the t-stat, would that be OK?

Also - where do I get a vented gas cap for a 65 Mustang? Or - if I just vent the tank with a tapped hole, fitting and hose to the ouside from the filler neck pipe - would that be OK?

Thanks,
Chris

You can put the sensor in the thermostat housing but you will not get the actual engine temp while the engine is warming up. I would put the gage in the housing and the EFI sensor in the intake.

You should be able to get a vented cap from your local auto parts store. Something universal and not a stock replacement.

Otherwise yeah, you can put a hole in the filler neck to some hose, I usually put an inline filter to stop debris getting back up the hose and I coil the hose in case fuel wants to get out.

Thanks for the quick reply.

So, can I just go with the vented cap, or do I need to add the other vent as well?

I ran my return line into the filler neck of my 66 Nova wagon. I even kept the stock fuel cap, although I know it does not seal air tight. I would think a vented cap should work. You need to be able to displace just as much air pressure coming into the stock tank.
That amount depends on the size of pump.

I am not sure this will help you out, but I run a autometer electric temp guage on my small block ford. I drilled and tapped the intake manifold just behind the thermostat housing to install the temp sensor. The autometer sensor uses a 1.8 npt thread so it is a small sensor.

That worked awesome for me
here is a pic of what I did
