Default Hemi Ram Kit 82176
I've spent the last few days installing this kit, taking my time and trying to do everything right. I've got the 82176 kit for the hemi ram on my '03, along with the bottle heater, purge kit, and remote bottle opener. After carefully wiring and plumbing this system up, I programed the NMU. The red light comes on, when I open the throttle manually, the led flashes red-green-off like it's supposed to, but when I disarm and then re-arm the system, the led is green, but it is flickering and when I move the throttle blades to wIde open throttle, nothing happens. What could be the cause of this?

When the light is flickering can you hear the solenoid clicking? Have you checked your voltage reading on the wire your on? If so can you tell me what it is?

I talked to a tech today. I got the first issue solved, got the NMU trained. With the sysstem armed and the key on, when I press the throttle, the green led goes out and nothing happens with the NMU. When the throttle is released, the green LED comes back on. The tech told me to send the unit to ZEX and gave me a RMA number.

ZEX sent me another unit, and I got it installed. Still the same problem. I know I have the correct wire tapped, because I checked the voltage at both idle and WOT, and they are within spec per the instructions. After the nmu is trained, and the green light is displayed, when I depress the pedal to Wide open, the green led flickers, and NOTHING happens with the solenoids in the NMU. I am really regreting having ever bought a ZEX nitrous kit. I spent the extra money on this kit because I believed it to be of the highest quality, but I'm having my doubts now. I really need some help here...

If this is the second box you have tried and it is not working either I don't hink our problem is the box. I don't mean that to be rude but the chances of you getting 2 bad boxes in a row are slim to none at best. I am not saying it is not the box just that it is very unlikely. Can you explain how you have the kit wired? Where are you getting the TPS signal from? Where are you running your grounds to? If the NMU is learning which it sounds like it is but nothing is happening when you go to wide open throuttle then I would say there is a problem with the signal being recieved by it.The more information you can give me the better I will be able to help.

I have my ground run directly to the battery. That was my first though, a bad ground, so that's the first thing I did with the first box. I'm getting my tps signal from the throttle position sensor under the battery tray, as my truck is an '03. I got the wire location from an install article in which they installed one of the first ZEX kits on a hemi truck. As far as my 12v source, I have it run from a 30 amp relay because I have a switch panel instlled in the interior of my truck rather than drilling a bunch of holes in the dash. As long as the unit is getting 12v, it shouldn't matter, should it?....Thanks in advance for any help...I'm sorry if I came off as being a smarta**, but I was very frustrated when I wrote that last night.

I know you said you are positive you are on the correct wire but it truly sounds like it is on the descending voltage wire instead of the ascending votage wire. Check this one more time for me to be sure. Also be sure you are following the instructions and manually moving the throttle blade and not just pushing the pedal. Have you actually tried getting the system to spray the nitrous with the motor running? Just pull the nitrous nozzle out and hold it away from you and see if it is spraying. Maybe for some rason you are just not hearing the click. I am about to leave for the day but I will try to check this thread from home this weekend so I can continue to help you as much as possible.

Any news??

I've not had time to work on my truck because of the weather (I don't have a garage), but I've been thinking, if there is no fuel pressure to the NMU, will the solenoids click. I would say no if there is a built-in fuel pressure safety feature, but I have no way to know for sure. What is your take on this theory? I'm gonna try to get back on it ASAP. Thanks in advance....

There is no fuel pressure safety feature on any of our NMU's.
