Well, Long Hauler’s you made it! We arrived in Downtown Mobile, Alabama. Even though we were on the coast, Mother Nature seemed to be holding out on the cool coastal breezes as we had a reported 110 degree heat index. Throughout the day, plenty of the Long Haulers came by to pick up their custom 2010 COMP Performance Group™ Dash Plaques and sign the coveted Long Hauler Banner that we made specifically to be awarded to one lucky winner.
Our Adult Big Wheels race was once again a huge hit. With limited space, we set up a figure eight course and our contestants once again proved that “rubbing is racing.” Our race champion walked away with a COMP Cams® gift certificate and our runner-up came-away with a COMP® Racing t-shirt.
As the hot rodders began to gather around the stage, we got our chance to come forward to thank everyone for another amazing Hot Rod Power Tour. After awarding an audience member with a $50 FAST™ gift certificate for giving us her best impression of a Big Block Chevy, we turned our attention to the 2010 Hot Rod Power Tour Long Hauler Banner. Mr. Robert Monk made his way to the main stage to claim his new garage display as the crowd cheered for him. When asked what kind of car he drove, Robert replied, “ ’55 Bel Air, just like on the banner!” Then we asked if this was his first Power Tour and he informed us that it was, in fact, his seventh! Seven years running! That’s the kind of passion and dedication we love to see!
It was a pleasure and an honor to be your 2010 Power Tour sponsor; thanks for the memories; we’ll see you in 2011!
