Memphis, TN – This year the annual Hot Rod Power Tour will stop in Memphis for a full day and night of activities both at Memphis International Raceway and on world-famous Beale Street.
In 2013 the Hot Rod Power Tour will return to Memphis – home base of COMP Cams®
and the COMP Performance Group
™ (CPG). Starting at noon on Tuesday, June 4th, upwards of 2000 cars will descend on Memphis International Raceway (MIR) in Millington, TN.
Throughout the day, Power Tour participants and spectators will be able to walk the grounds to see some amazing street machines, take part in events at the facility’s drag strip and circle track, enter contests and visit with a wide variety of vendors, including the COMP Performance Group
™, whose trailer will be on site at every Power Tour stop.
At 3 p.m. COMP®
will host the Engine Builder Duel, which pits a pair of two-person teams against one another to see which one can assemble and crank a Small Block Chevy in the shortest amount of time. Meanwhile, CPG
™ brand will serve as the event’s Main Stage Sponsor both at Memphis and throughout the week.
At night, the event will shift to downtown Memphis’ historic Beale Street for the COMP Cams®
Hot Rods on Beale event – the city’s largest-ever automotive block party. 100 vehicles will be hand selected by CPG
staff to line the cobblestone streets from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. A police escort will lead the selected vehicles from MIR to Beale, while all other participants are welcome to park on closed surrounding streets and in secure parking garages in the downtown area.
“Power Tour is one of our favorite events of the year, and this year’s Memphis stop just makes the week that much more special,” said Chris Douglas, CPG
VP of Marketing. “We can’t wait for the passionate enthusiasts making the trip to see all that our great city has to offer.”
