As we bid adieu to the last vestiges of 2009, so do we leave behind numerous great cars and brands. The greatest loss is Pontiac, and there are less than 1,000 of the former performance brand’s cars left for sale across the country. GM has launched a fire sale to eliminate the last of their Pontiacs and Saturns, including the venerable G8 performance sedan.
According to Jalopnik and Autotrader, there is only one Pontiac G8 GXP left in the whole country, surely making it worth a few bucks more than the average G8.
This final Pontiac G8 GXP is sitting on the dealer lot of Pearson Buick Pontiac GMC in Sunnyvale, California. The list price for this fully-loaded sedan is $46,565, which gets you a 6.2 liter, 400 horsepower LS6 engine, a six-speed transmission, and room for five full-size adults as well as a good-sized trunk. Of course it is likely Mr. Pearson knows he has the last G8 GXP in the country…so expect to pay a good deal more than the asking price for it.
There are about 100 G8 GT’s left as well. These lesser V8 cars get a 360 horsepower 6.0 liter engine and can still make the sprint from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds. It also costs a good deal less than the fully loaded GXP. We’ll surely see a few of these cars crossing the auction block in a few years for a good deal more than they cost, so if you got the cash, now would be a good time to get these relics of a time gone past.
