Default LS Flexplate fitament issues
399753

I purchased Item #399753 168 tooth flexplate for my current project

I am using an lq4 6.0liter engine that came from a 2000 GM truck and will be using a turbo 400 trans

The 99-00 6.0 engines had a longer crank from the factory (.400") because they only were hooked with 4l80 transmissions (01 and beyond used a (.400" spacer on the regular length crank)

Placing the flexplate according to the directions (if that is what you want to call them)
the flexplate would have virtually NO engagement with the starter. The converter I am using also will not engage into the crank when it would be bolted to the flexplate.

the small slip of paper included with the flexplate says "DO NOT use the incldued spacer when using an ls1 transmission but you must use the spacer whe using a non-ls1 transmission"

What is this spacer that is talked about??

Physically placing the flexplate on backwards brings it a lot closer to what the factory flexplate is but would then cause issues with the TC bolts hitting the rear cover bolts...

What is the proper setup for this application?

thanks

That Flexplate is not designed to be used with the 99-00 blocks. We made this flex plate to be used with the 01+ and to be used without the factory spacer. If You are using any thing but a LS1 style 4l60e-65e-70e The you will need to used the thin pilot extension that is included in the kit. By using that this will insure that the converter is centered in the crank. Please feel free to call, email, or post with any other questions.

Thanks for the response

the only thing included with the flexplate was the bag with 9 bolts (3 tc and 6 flexplate bolts)

I guess I will just return this flexplate and find a flexplate that will work for my application....

I would also suggest listing on the product page that this will not work for these applications....

Instead you list it as

"Flexplates are .035" thicker than stock and the starter ring is welded to both sides of the flexplate for additional strength. Constructed from a high tensile strength material these flexplates resist elongation and cracking. All 168 tooth flexplates are sized for stock 3/8" mounting bolts and can be easily drilled for 7/16" diameter high performance torque converter applications and are SFI 29.1 approved.

Fits internally balanced Chevy 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 LS1/LS6-series V8 engines.

For 4L80E applications, use P/N 399754. "
