Default More Mutha Thumpr issues?
I have installed the screw in studs, and installed the magnum rocker arms. I adjusted the valves and after it ran for 15 min, my valve/ liftyer noise returned and it started to run horrible. It eventually wouldn't start again. How many valve adjustments am I gonna need to do? It ran so perfect for 15 min. What is the correct valve adjustment procedure for new Magnum rockers and new Mutha Thumpr cam on a small block Ford? I'm a little confused! Lifter issues maybe? Or is it the lifters fitting themselves to the cam? Could the cam be defective and is slowly grinding the lobes down? I have built several engines and all have been fine, however this one has me kind of scratching my head.
Please review and advise.
Thanks!
Kris

It is possible you are wiping the lobes on the camshaft. I am not saying that is happening but it is always a possibility when breaking in a flat tappet camshaft. If there is a lot of metal in the oil, that will give you a pretty good indication that this may be happening. I have provided a link below to our instructions of how to adjust the valves. The instructions start at number 7. Also if you were adjusting the valves without getting the lifter on the base circle of the cam that would cause them to come back loose. If your polly lock or adjusting lock nuts were bad or cracked that would allow them to back off and get loose. This can happen due to over tightening or even just continued use over time. Also if you were not getting enough thread engagement this could allow for the same thing.

The Mutha Thumprs are awesome...nothing beats the sound they give your car and they give some great power too contrary to what some people may tell you...being an automatic I wouldnt worry about drivability as you wont have a clutch to worry about so you will be fine...you will not need valve springs for this cam either...you will need either phaser limiters or lockouts though...3.73s should be perfect for an auto application 4.10s would give you better response down low though because you will loose some power down low...as for exhaust I would definately get some LTs with an O/R midpipe or catted depending on how loud you want it...I have a video on youtube of mine with JBA LTs, O/R H-pipe and flowmasters and I love the sound of it...very deep...just search for "Mutha Thumpr 05 Mustang"...starts out with the back of my dirty black car.
