The Camaro has faced an unprecedented uphill in battle in the past few years, facing a humiliating and unexpected end in 2002 only to return a few years later as a concept car right before the financial firestorm that has swept the globe. The car has received plenty of attention and has been the victim of more speculation than any other car on the market currently as pundits and car buyers weighed the logic of reintroducing an iconic pony car with a big V8, rear wheel drive, and the fuel economy of a six-passenger SUV.
The market has shifted towards economically feasible and sensible small cars that get good gas mileage and have low excitement ratings, but GM has solidered on with the Camaro. And now, finally, we can see evidence of the Camaro rolling off the Oshawa production lines and filling up parking lots as the ten-thousand plus pre-orders are filled and these Camaros wait to be shipped out to anxious Chevy dealers across North America.
These pictures were taken by a Camaro5.com member, and you can see that most every color and model is represented in these pictures. So many to choose from! Personally I’ll take a silver V6 so I can claim some kind of respectable fuel economy but still have 300 horsepower on tap for just over $20k. The 400+ horsepower SS model is about ten grand more and has a powerful V8 but I’d rather take the money I’d save on a V6 and make it a serious sleeper. That is, when I can eventually afford one. For now, I’ll just drool over these pictures.
