Question NMU Repair
I think I may have a malfunction in my NMU. Does ZEX repair these units or do I need to buy a new one?

I have had flawless performance from my Zex 82026 LS1/LS6 system with the 82085 Traction Control Window Switch for three years or more.

However, in the last few weeks the engine in my Marauder studders, stammers, and loses power when the nitrous system is used. Otherwise the car is OK.

Runs without the Nitrous are normal.

I've checked the nozzel and jets, reprogrammed the NMU and the bottle seems to be full.

The solenoid check at the end of the programming procedure works, solenoids are clicking when WOT.

The Window Switch is still in play during these runs.

Help please.

Have you checked the nitrous filter?
It screws directly into the NMU, the brass fitting that the nitrous feed line attaches to.

Remove it and try to blow through it.

Smile Filter
Thanks for making me aware that there is a filter. Didn't know that. Instructions do not mention it. Yes, I just checked it and can blow thru it.

Regards,

Pat

It sounds like there is some type of obstruction in the lines or its has gotten trash in the solenoid. I would remove the lines and try to blow air through them to clear out any obstrucitons. You might also check your grounds t make sure they are good and the box is not kicking on and off. Do not ground anything else in the same place or near where you have the box grounded. Also if there was any thing close to the box the was putting off any electrical noise interferance that may cause an interuption in siganl.

Smile Problem resolved
This is to update and close out the thread.

After running troubleshooting routines from ZEX/CompCams the problem was traced to a faulty Gasoline solenoid within the NMU. Also had an erratic arming switch.

I have returned the old NMU and the company will make available a remanufactured NMU at a very reasonable price.

Thanks to all for your valuable input. I learned a lot about this system from working this problem with CompCams.

Regards,

Pat
