I just got my kit and am planning the install. Is it ok to mount the o2 sensor in the exhaust pipe just aft of the collector? It's easier that way on my car. Is there any detrimental side effects to doing this?

I would think that would depend on whether or not there is steady exhaust flow through the crossover pipe. You wouldn't want the exhaust and all the clues to your A/F ratio to blow past the pipe without the sensor getting a good whiff of it.
I'm picturing an H pipe. Maybe that's not what you're talking about.
It is an H pipe, about 2 feet after the collectors. This would be an easier place for mounting in this case, but it does make sense to keep the sensor where it is always getting a solid flow.

On a previous setup, I had my wideband in the merge of an X-Pipe, but that's quite a bit different from the crossover of an H-Pipe. I don't know if it really was or not, but the reading always seemed a little sluggish. I always attributed it to being further downstream, but I don't know if a couple of feet of pipe would really have made that much of a difference or not.
