Default Possible cam failure?
I have a chevy 350 with a hyd. flat tappet cam. I did the break-in procedure exactly, used the trick flow additive. I have about 50 miles on the cam assembly. I tore into it to look at everything. I am kinda gunshy due to a previous cam failure that wiped out the complete engine. Out of the 16 lifters 13 of them you can still see the swirl in them. In 3 the swirl is gone. and the surface is not the perfectly smooth and shiny like the 13. Is this normal as in the other 13 will soon look like this. or is this a sign of early cam failure? If I wipe out the engine again I will be making a trip to the scrap yard.I have a couple of pictures I can email if needed. For some reason I cant post pictures or links.
