Default Quality Control for Leaks?
Does TCI do Quality Control for leaks on their transmissions before they ship them out? If they are quality controlled before leaving the shop, why would there be a leak in a brand new install by certified mechanics? If there are defects in workmanship or parts who should pay for repair or warrenty work? The Consumer?

We do check and dyno every transmission that ships out. We strive to ensure that every transmission and converter is checked for leaks before they are shipped. What is the part number on the transmission and converter? When and where, were they purchased? Where is it leaking from? We want to try and resolve this and help you in this matter. If there is a factory defect, we will take care of it under warranty, but we need more info to proceed.

Smoke - After reading the multiple posts I found where you said it leaks from the front area. That could be the converter or front pump seal. I understand from one of the posts that a certified GM tech installed it, but there is a possibility that the front seal was cut when the converter was installed on the transmission. If it is the converter, there will fluid around the area that it is leaking from, Look around the OD of it where it was welded together and if that is ok, check the hub area.

I will get those numbers for you. The transmission is sitting in a heated shop on the floor Torque Converter still attached, I will take some pics of the areas noted and do a visual inspection and get back to you with more info and some pics.

Is it possible, that the transmission over-heated driving at hiway speeds because the torque converter didn't lock-up and was slipping at higher RPMs causing friction and heat build-up, and or because of vehicle weight, caused added load on transmission designed for lighter vehicle? If the transmission is rated for more horse power up front, why would it not handle the extra torque needed to move a heavier vehicle?

I have never raced with this transmission, I have not abused it, drove it hard, been off road with it, drive it in bad weather etc... have done nothing but baby this transmission, inspite of the leak, have driven the vehicle even more carefully, and made sure fluid was always topped up on every drive...

Went through phases, hard shifts, soft shifts, hard shifts, shuddered a couple of times shifting from 2nd to 3rd, but that never happend again. Never felt the 3-4 shift, or if I did it was the softest of the shifts. Sometimes though the 1-2 shift would be hard, I mean hard like 'BANG', (light throttle or heavy) I would think to myself, my God, that must be hard on the tranny and my rear end and the engine for that matter... On Cold starts, engine would rev in gear but little or no movement with transmission, once warmed up, vehicle would seemingly, be somewhat responsive and working again, except for that leak at the front of tranny (again, not at oil pan, I would wipe down and see that around oil pan, it would collect and drip off or blow back while driving)

The last trip, again, cold start, warmed up, started to move drove maybe 2-3 miles, was going up a hill and just let go, the engine started to rev, I let off the gas, was slowing down, rev the engine a few times, but kept going slower, moved shift lever through all the forward gears, stopped the vehicle put in reverse same thing through all the gears, just no engagement with transmission, Park is all I had left, it was at this point that I am now being active on this matter. I don't think I have driven more than 2500 miles on this brand new drive train.

I swap a TCI performance tranny for an old, from the wrecking yard tranny (TH350), have a new core installed Dec 18th and zoom zoom, I am doing smoke shows vehicle working like a charm....

I will get that info today to you thanks.

I don't want to blame anyone for the work, we all make mistakes, I appreciate that, all I want is the final product to be functional, and somewhere along the line there was a problem, I just want it fixed and working and the proper application.

TCI Tech
According to the paper work Tech1, I have the 371100 Transmission and the 243105 Converter.
looks like I have the universal TV Cable, 25515598. and Lock-Up Kit 376600, but I think that part comes with the SSF 371100 right?

Would there be a kit with Tranny Torque Converter Cooler TV Cable etc. with this combination I have that would be cheaper than buying everything separate?
