Default TCI 4L80E Rebuild kit, 278805 band question, rebuild questions
The included band in this rebuild kit, when assembled, mechanically applies the band and locks the direct drum when bolting down the valve body. I see the application on this rebuild kit says 97 to 2006. I did some reading on the internet and found GM changed the band in 1999 model year, to be 1.25" wide, and use a .200 longer band apply pin then previous years. The band I got in the kit is only 1" wide, and would need the shorter band apply pin to function. Is TCI aware of this, does TCI offer a band that is correct for my application? 2001 4L80E trans. Maybe I could get a band sent to me?

Also, I've rebuilt a few TH400 with great success, following the performance modifications I've read about along the way. These include removing wave plates and replacing with a flat steel, from Direct, Intermediate clutches. Also removal of the center lip seal on the direct clutch, and blocking the Reverse oil passage into the center support. Direct clutch .030 to .040 and Intermediate .040 - .080. I love the way the TH400 I have done this way shifts. I want to get the same thing out of the 4L80E. Can these same tricks be done on the 4L80E?
