Default TCI competition TH400 transmission question
QUESTION #1.

WhichTCI competition transmission will take more dragstrip and street abuse, and will handle more horsepower and torque? TCI part #212506 or TCI part # 212545? And if you can answer this question, please explain to me why.

Question #2.

What input shafts do these two transmissions have? Are they the same? And if not, please explain to me what each one has, and list the TCI part# for each.

Question #3.
Do these two TCI transmissions have the same front drums and sprags also? If not, please explain the differences.

I have a VERY big inch motor in a heavy car running a solid roller cam and a 30" tall tire. I'm expecting 1.3 second 60' times at the strip, along with a considerable amount of highway mileage on the street too. Thanks in advance.

BillyGman,
The 212506 is the same exact thing as the 212545 but the 212545 has an aluminum drum. By going to the alum. drum you will have added strength to rev the engine higher. Both these transmission will hold 850-950hp with out a problem. They both include our upgraded input shaft, red eagle clutchs, and our Transbrake valve body.

Thanks

Russ

Russ, thanks for your reply. What I find a little ambiguous is that in the TCI catalog as well as on the TCI webpage, the only input shafts that are listed as available upgrades for the TH400 trans are the "Vaccu Melt 300" shafts. The "VASCO 300" input shafts are only listed as being available for the Powerglide trans. You can see this via the first link below....

http://www.tciauto.com/Products/Comp...put_shafts.asp

And yet, it also states in the listing for the TCI TH400 trans part #212545 that it comes with the "VASCO 300" input shaft.

http://www.compperformancegroupstore...ct_Code=212545

as does the listing for the TH400 trans TCI part #212506 linjed below.....

http://www.compperformancegroupstore...ct_Code=212506

So here's the question: if both of these TH400 transmissions really do come with the "VASCO 300" input shafts included, then why is it that the TCI website as well as the TCI catalog do NOT list the VASCO 300 input shafts as being available for sale for the TH400 transmissions? Why does the website and the catalog both only list the "VACCU Melt 300" input shafts as being available for these TH400 transmissons? And while we're on the topic, can you please explain the differences between the VACCU melt 300 shafts, and the VASCO 300 shafts? Such as the strength and durability differences of the two???

BTW Russ, is this the most durable TH400 trans that TCI makes? (the 212506 I mean). If not, can you give me the part number(s) for the one(s) that will handle more power? I appreciate your input.

Oh, and one more thing (I promise ) is the transbrake in the 212506 trans a "Pro-Tree" brake?

The strongest is the ProX version. It is capable of 2000+ HP. Jason Lee out of Ohio runs NMRA Drag Radial with one. It does come with our 221505 pro-tree valve body.

OK, there again, the only "PRO-X" transmissons that I see listed on the TCI webpage as well as in the TCI catalog are the Powerglide models. Is there a PRO-X TH400? If so, why isn't it listed on the website, and can you please give me a part #????

The part# is 212507PX1. It is a build to order unit that runs $5092.50 plus shipping. Build time is 7-10 working days. It is in the web store but not on the main site yet. If you are a frequent visitor to our website you may have seen that we are currently redesigning our website layout so some things might not be listed yet. We apologize for any inconvenience that you might experience when searching for products, prices as well as any misprints that could occur. If you have trouble finding something feel free to email or post to the forum.
