Default TCI Converter Life Expectantcy
I have a Powerglide 10" Fastlap torque converter, Part # 741026. Transmission is a Powerglide only raced in LOW on a dirt oval track. My question is this: should the converter be replaced after a certain # of Laps? Do they go bad? What will the signs be? I am just curious of the answers to these questions. Thanks in advance.

Some customers run for multiple seasons without having them checked. However, many customers will send them back to us once a year to have them refreshed. Those are very durable converters, so they do not break very often. If it ever does break, you will begin to see metal in your transmission fluid.

I Think my TCI TC crapped out on me just city driving and light hiway driving, at least that is what they told me at the shop where they replaced it with another non TCI TC, which seemingly worked, until the tranny crapped out on me a second time... working towards a 3rd.

I am still curious though, why this keeps happening, not that I expect it to really stop, but I have to understand why so many issues with a brand new quality controlled product/service...

I have had 4 or 5 different TC in vehicle, technically only 3 have been swapped out (First one was a TCI TC), but had to use 2 others to test to see what the issues where, with no answers...
