Default TCI® Extends Ford Durability To The New Generation
The Super StreetFighter™ Transmission has rapidly become one of the most popular transmissions produced by TCI® - and the news just keeps getting better. TCI® has just made the Super StreetFighter™ available for late model (2005 to current Ford Mustangs) Ford Mustangs!

The perfect upgrade for high performance street/strip applications, the new Mustang TCI® Super StreetFighter™ Transmission delivers excellent performance and is built to handle up to 1200 hp. This transmission features Alto Red Eagle Clutches, Kolene Steels and Alto Red Eagle Bands with heat-treated band struts, as well as a higher main line pressure to deliver supreme strength and durability. It also incorporates an aftermarket input shaft made from M300 material (Part #579600), an intermediate billet aluminum servo and cover (Part #576005) and an overdrive billet aluminum servo and cover (Part #576006). It has an even higher main line pressure for tighter clutch application and more positive shifts for the more radical street and race applications.

This new TCI® Super StreetFighter™ for Mustangs also features the TCI® advanced HDT (Heat Dissipating Technology™) Coating™ to ensure cooler operating temperatures. In addition, as is standard practice with all TCI® transmissions, each unit is triple-tested and Axiline dyno-certified for guaranteed satisfaction. The Super StreetFighter™, like every transmission that TCI® produces, is checked for correct valve body and hydraulic readings as well as overall dyno testing.

What that means for Mustang enthusiasts is they now have access to the best aftermarket transmissions available, and the complexity of installing this new unit is simplified because it is a direct bolt-in replacement for the factory unit.

Whether this is a do-it-yourself install or you have it done for you, the changeover is well worth it. Take a look at the video (put video link here) as well as the photo sequence below and check out how streamlined the installation of this fantastic new transmission is.

The installation begins by disconnecting the power source.

The O2 sensor wires have to be disconnected in preparation for
the transmission removal.

Removal of the stamped steel inspection cover is done to gain visual
access to the torque converter nuts. This unit has two inspection
locations that must be removed. One is the stamped steel cover that
permits visual access to the torque converter nuts.

The other inspection location is shown in this photo. This access
permits the removal of the torque converter nuts.

In this photo the O2 sensor is being removed from exhaust system.
This is necessary since the sensor is in the way of exhaust removal.
The sensor will be reused when the new transmission is installed.

Next the transmission cooler lines are disconnected.

The universal joint is being disconnected so the driveshaft may be
dropped out of the way to remove the old transmission.

The exhaust system in disconnected and dropped.

Next the starter must be removed.

Removing the transmission cross support requires the removal of five
bolts. One in the center then two one on each end.

R&D Engineer Kevin Winstead is removing the torque converter nuts
as the final step in preparation for removing the factory transmission.

At this point it’s necessary to rotate the engine to gain access to the
torque converter nuts. In this photo a screwdriver is being used.
There are other methods such as turning the crankshaft bolt to
achieve access to the torque converter nuts.

A hydraulic transmission jack is positioned to remove the transmission.

With the transmission supported by the hydraulic jack, the outer
bolts of the cross member are removed.

With the transmission cross member removed, the transmission bolts
are removed to free the transmission so it can be lowered from the car.

As the transmission is lowered, all remaining electronic wiring is
disconnected and the factory transmission is completely removed.

This is the TCI® Super StreetFighter™ Transmission. The middle speed
sensor is removed so transmission fluid is installed into the new transmission.

The new transmission is positioned under the car for installation.

With the initial bolts installed to hold the transmission in place, the
cross member is now bolted back into place.

Next the driveshaft is reattached.

The transmission oil lines are reconnected.

Next is the reattachment of the exhaust.

The starter is now reattached followed by the reattaching all
remaining connections.

The torque converter nuts are reinstalled and torqued in place.

After the new transmission is bolted in and all the connections are reestablished, the final step is the hook up of the battery power source.
