The new Clean Neutral Transbrake Valve Body utilizes a “clean neutral” after high gear & Pro Tree transbrake for maximum durability & performance of GM TH400 transmissions

As with any reverse shift pattern valve body, trying to put the GM TH400 transmission into neutral by passing the shifter back through previous gears can cause serious transmission damage and drum disintegration. That’s why engineers at TCI® designed the TH400 Clean Neutral Transbrake Valve Body to provide a second neutral in the shift pattern after high gear (PRN123N), allowing racers to make another shift to “clean neutral” after the finish line.





When applied, the “clean neutral” disengages the forward clutch, allowing the engine to coast down to an idle without the high gear drum accelerating to 2.5 times engine rpm, which can lead to dangerous consequences. The new TCI® Clean Neutral Transbrake Valve Body also allows racers to achieve maximum torque converter stall, which enables quicker, more consistent reaction times. This is due to the Pro Tree transbrake action, which prevents the engine's torque load from being transmitted through the drivetrain prior to the launch.

The transbrake acts in much the same manner as a manual clutch. Once the transbrake is engaged, the vehicle can neither roll forward nor backward, and when the accelerator is pressed, the engine can rpm as high as the torque converter stall. Once the transbrake is released, power is immediately transmitted to the rear wheels in much the same manner as a manual clutch but with the parts saving advantage of the torque converter's shock absorbing action.

A direct replacement for the standard GM TH400 Transbrake Valve Body, use of the “clean neutral” valve body requires a shifter with the extra neutral detent built into the gate plate.
