Default TCU 4L80E slipping issue??
so took the 86 4X4 suburban with 454, 4.10 gears and 33" tires for a road trip to see how it did, and it did not do good. I have been programing the 4L80E with the grey TCU and thought I had it figured out, I used the 4L80E program and just added the TPS info, tires, and gears. It had been doing fine the past couple days with the exception of when I let off the throttle and eased back into it it would rev up the "catch the gear" I thought this was just the programing need more tweeking. Anyway I took the trip and about 60 miles in at around 75MPH 4th gear TCC locked it just started reving and loosing power so I had to pull over, I checked everything but found nothing other than it was hot. Turned it around to head home then it seemed to go kaput. In drive it would just rev an not catch any gear. I rigged the manual mode and was able to get it to start shifting that way but just barely and it also would just loose power often and I would pull over and try again.

I got home and did manage to data log part of the issue, please take a look and see if you can clue me in?

Thanks,

Dustin

I think the tranny is done.

So just wondering will my TCU work as is with the 6x 6Speed 4L80E that TCI makes? If I gotta spend a few grand to rebuild my trans I might decide to just go a few more get a couple more gears while I am at it.

You can send it in and we will program it and dyno it with the 6X.
