Default TCU SCU wires
I am using an Autometer hall-effect speed sensor for my TOSS feed, and am trying to clean up and minimize the number of wires needed.

The Autometer sensor has 3 wires: switched 12V, ground and signal. The existing TOSS cable can provide wires for signal and ground.

I also need a signal wire to feed the sensor output to the speedometer.

As I'm not using the SCU connector for anything, I'm wondering if I can redirect those wires for other purposes.

1. Can I use the red wire from the SCU connector to feed switched 12V to the Autometer sensor?

2. Can I use the SCU "B" terminal center wire (clear insulation on mine) to feed the sensor signal out of the TCU to my speedometer?

Thanks.

2. Can I use the SCU "B" terminal center wire (clear insulation on mine) to feed the sensor signal out of the TCU to my speedometer? Yes. That will work just fine.

Thanks.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions!

One other question: I notice the SCU section wires are shielded on my harness. Is this important? Should I shield these wires from the sender or to the speedo?

Thanks again.

It's not necessary to have them shielded, as long as you do not route them near a high voltage ignition source.
