Default TH 400 output carrier question
I'm doing my TH400 rebuild, and have a question about the output carrier drum. It has some shallow grooves from the rear band wear. I don't know if a new rear band will be all it needs, or a new carrier assembly also. Most suppliers I've looked at don't stock that part..

Any words of wisdom ??

This transmission is going behind a 500 Caddy in my '75 El Camino, so low (selected) and reverse would have fairly big torque on this drum.

Steelybill,
If that drum has any wear on it it will need to be replaced. I would suggest finding a good used one or a used on that has been polished would be even better. We at TCI can offer you a drum for this application. Please give us a call when you get a chance.

Thanks

Russ
