Help setting timing

    That initial is too low. Something is wrong with the timing mark or somewhere else.

    Look on eBay for the MSD 8981.

    5 degrees btdc is the factory. Dang that is huge lol would it be better to get that or seen some where on here to upgrade to sportsman?

    With your automatic trans, you don't need to upgrade from EZ EFI. The Sportsman only upgrades EZ EFI 2.0. XFI Street upgrades the EZ EFI 1.0. You don't need an upgrade - just the MSD 8981 timing computer and a locked out distributor.

    FAST fuel injection uses much more initial timing than OEM for your engine. Use at least 89 octane fuel. Premium would be better. Your engine was originally designed for 96 octane.

    Pull a valve cover and check the cam timing. Also check the balancer mark is correct using #1 TDC.
