Default Timing question
I'm going to remove the gear drive from my motor in a couple days I was wondering when I installed the gear drive I noticed the crank gear was set up 4* advanced should I leave it this way or set the chain at zero?

specs.
Block is an 89 roller 350ci bored 30 over,GM performance cylinder heads, have heat crossover deleted from casting possess 2.02 intake , 1.60 exhaust.
Harland Sharp 1.5 ratio roller rockers.

XR228HR 520*, .540* lift, duration @ .50 is 236, 242 respectively all on a 110 LSA
Edelbrock Performer RPM airgap intake and FAST EZ EFI.... TKO 600 5 speed trans

Any info would be great....

That cam is already advanced 4*, so I would put it in straight up, if it were my engine. You can advance it 4* if you like, that is your choice, but it will bring the torque on a couple hundred rpm's sooner and will run out of steam a couple hundred rpm's early as well.

If it matters I set it up straight up and I must say there is a noticeable difference it seems to run much harder on acceleration.

I don't know if its because I installed the cam straight up or something to do with the EFI but I'm pinging like crazy I'm running way lower timing then before the EFI and it still pings while in 5th gear pulling slight grades... went from 18* int 47 total before the efi and chain replacement down to 14*int 36 total. still pings just when you accelerate in 5th... any ideas?
