Default which torque converter
I've called TCI two times and recieved two diff answers.

Here's my setup: Engine: Amc 360 5.9L, comp cam Part #10-204-4; duration @.05 230; lift .49 Drivetrain: Torque Command 727, 3.73 gears probably 4.10 later. 38" tires will run 37" soon.

The vehicle is a Jeep Cj7 with a Dana 300 that has 2.62:1 gear ratio and I hope to change to 4:1 later. I plan to use it as a trail vehicle. Which means light throttle most of the time with an occasional WOT when I'm stuck. But I will use it on street for joy riding or perhaps to drive to trail so minimal highway use.

So one tech told me Breakaway. The other told me Saturday Night Special (though I did mention light throttle scenarios to him). Which one do I use?

studlyblueiz,

I would recommend the Breakaway converter for that. That converter will allow you to get good driveability and performance in high or low gear.

Thanks

Don't skimp on coremember, you only get what you pay for when it comes to torque converters. not the area to be cutting corners with.
