Default torque converter help
arite lets start off with my set up:
(this is in a 91 c1500)

355 w/flat top pistons
comp 282 hyd. roller cam .510.520 lift duration 282/288-230/236 @ .50
aluminum 64cc heads w/ 2.055/1.60 valves
edelbrock air gap intake
speed demon 750 carb

i have a 700r4 trans thats been rebuilt in the past w/ a corvette servo, bigger boost springs etc.

i also have 4.11s w/ posi in the rear

this engine is new and i have not drove it much. this will mainly be a daily driver, but will be taken to the track occasionally. i have the stock stall in the tranny right now. i want to get a stall that better matches my set up, just need a little guidence pls. one thing i do know is that a do want to get a lock up converter and kit.

now what i dont know is if a 3000 stall torque converter is too much. so what do yall think?

one more question, when my truck idles in park its fine, when i put it in gear the rpms drop down 500 or so and i have to give it a little gas here and there to keep it idling. would having a stall that better matches my set up help it idle better while it is in gear?

thanks alot for any replies, they'll will be appreciated!

Lowandloud91,

With your engine, cam and vehicle set up you need to go to our Breakaway converter #242800 this converter will give you a 2400-2600rpm flash stall. By going to a converter like this it will allow you engine to idle much nicer in gear. Feel free to give me a call or Shoot me a email.

Thanks

Russ

I never said it was to much i just told you what i thought would work the best for your street/strip set up. You could go with our street fighter converter #243106 this will give you a 3200-3400 rpm flash stall. This will give you more track performance while maintaining some good street ability.

The difference of 200 rpm on a street car will be very small. If you want more performance go with the streetfighter if you want performance and drive ability go with the breakaway. I still think that the original converter i suggested is what will work the best and make you car perform the way it should. If you want give me a call and i can build a custom converter for you that will give you that 200rpm that will not be a issue.
