Default Why no trans for this car?
Every high performance auto trans manufacturer has transmissions that will handle huge horsepower and bolt right into a Mustang GT. I have a '07 GT500 and along with other GT500 owners would love to have an auto trans. There is obviously some obstacle that simply cannot be overcome since I have never seen any offerings for a street, street/strip, or even full race auto trans for that application. Exactly what is that obstacle that is keeping me from having an auto trans?

Hotrodrock,

Who said there was not anything available? There is nothing that we state specifically for the GT-500, but you could easily use something like a 4R70W or even one of our 6X 6 speeds. I think the only obstacle is the cost of doing this.

Either way you go, 6x or 4R70W, you have to do a custom driveline. Custom drive shaft and cross member would be needed, and you would also need a controller.

Thanks,

New drive shaft and cross member are obvious. No biggie there. I guess the controller might be a differnt story although I believe I have heard of these being available.

The GT-500 never came with an auto.. Therefor nothing is application specific. Your options are the 6x or 4R70W. Both can be controlled with our TCU. I see this being a small task if you already know you will have to change the drive line around some.
