Unhappy XE256H Installation Question
Hello,

I am new to engine building but learning fast. I bought one K-kit from Comp Cams and encountered a couple of technical issues:

1. I have not figured out the attaching bolt specification for the camshaft gear to the camshaft (SAE or Metric?), also
2. Seems like the locating pin that came with the kit is not long enough (even the longer one) to hold the camshaft, camshaft gear and the fuel pump eccentric.

Best Regards,
Felix

As far as the bolt goes, most of our cams retain the stock bolt. If you can give me a serial number from the cam, I can check to see if a different core was used or something like that. On the pin, it should be long enough unless you are trying to use a two piece eccentric with a timing set designed for use with a one piece eccentric or vice-versa.

Hi Will,

Thanks for your response, the s/n for the cam is VF7362-09, the grind is specified as FS XE265H-10 and the part number is 31-234-3

I forgot to mention that I do not have the original bolt for the cam, therefore, it would be great if you could tell me what kind of bolt that is. (ie, 5/16-24 UNF x 1.5; or M8x1.25x1.5, just as an example)

It is a one piece eccentric, I assume the washer to be used would have to "block" the pin from coming through, right?

Thanks in advance
Felix

Yes, the washer will pretty much "block" it from coming through.

That will show you a great photo of how it is supposed to line up.
The bolt should be a 3/8-16
