XFI & XIM weather damage?

Hi
I have a Boss Hoss motorcycle with a stroked LS-2 430cid 706HP with FAST controllers. The XFI & XIM are mounted under my seat, away from any heat, hidden from view.
It is possible during washing, or caught riding in a rain storm that the boxes may see some water. Will this be a issue and damage the components? FAST claims "extreme environments", but want to be sure.
I will pick-up this new bike next week and want to know the facts concerning that question.

PS. The XIM is mounted vertically with the connectors facing down. The XFI is mounted horizontally. Both were manufactured 2010, new stuff.

A wet enviroment is not good for any ECU. I have had a couple customers who left the vehicle in the rain and had problem with the ECU after. If you are going to do this then you might want to think about a weather tight box to put them inside. I have also sealed the bottom cover of the ecu before and put some sealer around the wire where it goes through the connector. The connector has a weather seal but is not meant to really get wet.
