Default Yes, Winning Is Still All That Matters
People can say whatever they want – winning or getting the best of your rivals is really all that matters in racing, street performance or anything else in life. And if you’re a performance enthusiast, you know about competition and the drive to be the best more than most. That’s why you began racing or working on that street rod of yours in the first place. Isn’t it?

As the son of a professional engine builder, I was placed into competition not much after I learned to walk. From motorcycles, to flat track four-wheelers, to go-karts, to automobile racing, I have NEVER been happy about losing. As a matter of fact, I chose my college major based on the fact that businesses compete in the marketplace harder than anything in existence!

Everyone likes to win. Beyond the hooplah about teamwork and balance, all of the lame books about being kind and cultivating emotional intelligence, people still want to be the best. Call it passion, drive. And in my opinion, there is nothing more passionate or driven than the automotive industry – especially the performance aftermarket.

When you pick out a performance product from a list of its competitors, you have chosen the winner of countless hours of competitive R&D, thousands (or millions) of dollars spent on marketing warfare and hundreds of hours of performance testing. Whether it be a better performer, more durable or more cost-efficient than its competitor, that product was designed to win – and to make you a winner, be it at a car show, on the street, at the race track or on the road course.

Life is all about competition. That’s probably why we’re referred to as the human race. Just be glad you’re part of an industry that addresses its competitive spirit better than any other. I certainly am.
