Default zex window switch
i just recently had my zex nitrous kit installed on my 2004 mustang gt however the window switch is not reading my RPM's right

what it's doing is mostly just sitting at .4 but every once in awhile will read correctly at .8 or 1.3, but will not read correctly at any other time

the guy who installed it went over all the connections and they appeared to be good

i hope the switch isnt defective because i bought the kit over a year ago and im pretty sure its already out of warranty with both americanmuscle.com and zex, however it sat brand new in the box until a couple months ago, but i dont believe it will get replaced for free

any suggestions? should i just take the switch off and have it installed again? or do you think the switch is defective? he soldered the signal wire to the coil so maybe he didnt get it soldered good? thanks

What setting options were chosen when you programed the Window Switch. Also the coil on a 4.6 is often a noisy place to get the tach signal from so you might try moving the pick up to the negative side of an injector for a cleaner signal.

ah i feel like an idiot now, i didnt have the switch programmed right

its reading the rpms correctly now but it looks like it still flashes .0 off and on while idling is where its mostly noticable

would you still recommend trying the negative side of the injector?

On the Ford systems sometimes they will do this due the MSD (mulitple spak discharge) style ignition system. The signal should actually clean up around 2000-2500 RPM and the setup should work fine. However, if you like it to display the RPM reading correctly at idle you should just move the pickup to the negative side of the injector. This should provide it with a clean signal and eliminate the issue.
